Work in Progress on 2009 Girls Division Two Sectional One

REGIONAL A
  • Amery The Warriors will likely rely heavily on junior middle Kelly Stewart, who was honorable mention Middle Border all-conference last season. They lose star Heather Byl.
  • Ashland The Oredockers are in the Lake Superior conference, which is primarily composed of Minnesota teams.
  • Hayward The Hurricanes are in the Heart O'North conference. First team: Ashley Hager, Hayward, 2010 Morgan Lee, Hayward, 2010 Amy McDonald, Hayward, 2010 Second team: Tatum Lee, Hayward, 2010
  • New Richmond The Tigers will have a senior-laden team. They lost three to graduation. Senior Kendra Mitchell had 63 kills and 103 digs last season. Junior Shelby Basel dished out 165 assists and had 13 aces. Senior Breanna Getschel had 18.5 total blocks last season.
  • Northwestern The Tigers are in the Heart O'North conference. First team: Anna Morgan, Northwestern, 2010
  • Osceola The Chieftains will rely heavily on junior middle Paige Garriga, who was second-team Middle Border all-conference in 2008. Senior middle Katie Zais was honorable mention all-conference last season. Another honorble mention all-conference player, junior outside Lisa Rydeen had 17 aces last season, which was good for second in the Middle Border conference.
  • Spooner The Rails are in the Heart O'North conference. Second team: Kayla Vik, Spooner, 2010
REGIONAL B
  • Altoona: Cloverbelt West All Conference -- Senior Rachel Larson (HM) and Bethany Reyzer (HM)
  • Baldwin-Woodville Junior libero Erin Booth was honorable mention Middle Border all-conference last season. Senior Jessica Murtha had 55 kills in 2008. Junior Kelsey Wahlquist had 42 assists last season and junior Ashley Robele had 27. Senior Bailey Larson had 15 aces last season. Sophomore Cabrina Grunseth made the roster as a freshman.
  • Barron The Golden Bears are in the Heart O'North conference.
  • Medford Area The Raiders are in the Great Northern conference. Second team: Jessica Holbach, Medford, 2010
  • Rice Lake The Warriors graduated Melissa Richie, a Gardner-Webb recruit, along with her 419 kills). They reached the Resch last season. Senior Gina Bernier (103 kills in 2008) returns, as does junior setter Stephanie Schmidt (176 assists in 2008). Senior libero Katie Schwab had 504 digs last season. Senior Jenny Fjelstad had 158 kills and 210 digs. Senior middle Marsha Hanson had 100 kills.
  • Somerset The Spartans will likely turn to junior Karli Solum led the team in kills last season with 59. Senior Alicia Potting had 56. Senior Lauren Westerdahl had 164 assists last season. The big block of senior Gracie Hartman.
REGIONAL C
  • Adams-Friendship: The Green Devils are in the South Central conference.
  • Lakeland: Senior Carol Falesch was second-team Great Northern all-conference last season.
  • Mosinee: They lose three Great Northern all-conference players.
  • Nekoosa: The Papermakers are in the South Central conference.
  • Northland Pines: The Eagles are in the Great Northern conference.
  • Tomahawk: They lose first-team Great Northern all-conference star Nikolene Miller, but still have junior Kaitlin Doughty, who was second-team Great Northern all-conference and honorable mention all-state. Also, junior Jenna Otterholt, who was HM and junior Kaylyn Olson, who was second-team.
  • Wittenberg-Birnamwood: Courtney Rosenow was HM Central Wisconsin-8 all-conference. Senior Ashley Koeller was HM as well.
REGIONAL D
  • Black River Falls: The Tigers are in the Coulee conference.
  • Durand Senior Kelly Robelia had 140 assists last season. Junior Courtney Brusoe led the Middle Border conference in total blocks last season with 24. Senior Katie Sam had 19. They only lost one player to graduation and had only two juniors on their roster last season. Sophomore Michaela Danzinger made the roster as a freshman.
  • Ellsworth Junior Kayla Christopherson was second in the Middle Border in kills last season with 93. Senior Carlie Melstrom had 220 assists last season. The big blocks of senior Rachael Anderson and junior Claire Tingelhoff. They're the Panthers.
  • Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau: The Tigers are in the Coulee conference.
  • Onalaska: The Hilltoppers are in the Mississippi Valley conference. They finished 9-3 in conference last season. They graduated four all-conference honorees, but return junior middle McKenzie Guth.
  • Sparta: The Spartans are in the Mississippi Valley conference. Senior outside Jamie Kenyon was first-team all-conference last season. Senior setter Al Nading was second-team. Senior middle Jenna Schroeder was HM. Junior outside Haylee Kirking was HM.
  • West Salem: The Panthers are in the Coulee conference. Lots of names at this link.
